If you're ready to dive into the world of fashion design, there are two schools in Delaware that you can attend. Delaware State University and University of Delaware both offer fairly reasonable tuition costs and strong fashion design programs. To get started as a fashion designer, you can pursue a Bachelor's degree in Delaware. The programs at both schools take between 4 1/2 and five years to complete. You may have to complete between 120 and 130 credits. As part of your program, you may have to complete a design portfolio. This portfolio can be an important part of your job search, as it includes all of your design work and shows off your style. If you decide to continue your education and complete a Master's degree in fashion design, plan on spending two years as a full-time student or three years as a part-time student. This degree prepares you for a leadership role as a fashion designer. Classes include Psychological Aspects of Clothing, Apparel Brand Management, and Product Development.
