Fashion Schools by State

Every state guide below is built from U.S. Department of Education data: real published tuition, the average net price students actually pay after grants, enrollment, and whether each school teaches fashion design, merchandising, or both. Pick your state to compare every option side by side. Guides are updated as the federal data refreshes; the current set uses July 2026 data.

Not sure where to start?

If cost is the deciding factor, open your home state first — in-state tuition and local community colleges are almost always the cheapest route, and every guide leads with the lowest-net-price option. If you’re set on a specific track, the national lists of fashion design schools and fashion merchandising schools organize the same schools by program type instead of by state. The biggest concentrations are in New York, California, and Texas.

How these guides are built: schools identified via U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard and IPEDS program data (CIP 19.09 apparel & textiles, CIP 52.19 fashion merchandising), retrieved July 2026. Spot an error? Tell us and we’ll fix it.
