Indiana Fashion Schools

Indiana’s bustling fashion community is home to seven fashion schools, including four that offer postgraduate degrees. The average acceptance rate of 76% is promising for new students, as is the low average tuition cost of $12,993. Indiana has a nice mix of small, medium, and large campuses, suiting whichever campus environment you enjoy.

Indiana State University has special scholarship opportunities for fashion students. The President’s Scholarship offers full tuition and housing to 20 Indiana State University students every year.

Another great opportunity for you is the Spring Fashion Show at Purdue University. You can get your designs on the runway with this event.

There are a variety of ways you can use your fashion degree in Indiana. You may find jobs at retail stores, marketing firms, and fashion design companies. Some of the most significant fashion employers are Gilchrist & Soames, Windsor Fashions, and Chico’s FAS Inc. Indiana’s economy is improving every month; since July 2013, the unemployment rate has dropped from 8.4% to 6.9% (BLS, 2013).

While you may start out earning an entry-level salary, you can bump up your earning potential as you gain experience. The average salary for a fashion designer in Indiana is $47,930 per year, and the average salary for a merchandise displayer is $27,980 per year (BLS, 2012). Marketing analysts in this state earn an average salary of $49,890 (BLS, 2012).
