Are you ready to begin your career as a fashion designer in Arizona? There are four schools that you can choose to attend, with an average tuition cost of $5,744. Regardless of which school you choose to attend, there are considerable student loan and scholarship opportunities. In Arizona, the average scholarship is $1,982. Arizona can be a great place to start your career, as it is home to Phoenix Fashion Week, an annual event for fashion designers and fashion buyers.

If you choose to attend a community college or technical school in Arizona, you can choose between either earning a certificate in fashion design or an Associate’s degree in fashion design. An Associate’s degree takes about two years of full-time study to complete, while a certificate takes about one year to complete. A Bachelor’s degree may give you more career choices, but it also takes about four years of full-time study to complete. Some of the courses you may have to complete in these programs include Fashion Illustration, Textiles, Pattern Design, and Portfolio Development.

While you work towards your degree or certificate in fashion design, you won’t be spending all of your time in the classroom. Much of your time may be spent in an art studio creating designs, sewing mock-ups of your design, or completing an internship with a local apparel company.
