Tennessee Fashion Schools

Because it’s part of a vibrant fashion community, Tennessee has many different exciting opportunities for fashion students. There are five schools you can attend in this state, two of which offer graduate programs. The average cost of tuition in Tennessee is $17,492, but tuition can be as low as $5,341.

There are many different scholarship opportunities for you to consider. Middle Tennessee State University offers many scholarships, including the Rita Davenport Human Sciences Scholarship, Cleo Carpenter Award, and the Margaret Putnam Scholarship. O’More Design Week is a local event that awards scholarships to skilled fashion students every year.

With a fashion degree, you can pursue many different career paths. You may find job openings with fashion design companies, retailers, and marketing firms. Large fashion employers in Tennessee include Destination XL Group, Rack Room Shoes, and Belk Stores. The economy has been on the mend in Tennessee; since July 2013, the unemployment rate has dropped from 8.5% to 7.8% (BLS, 2013).

Fashion professionals in Tennessee earn a wide range of salaries. In general, the more experience you have, the more money you can earn. Tennessee designers earn an average salary of $42,910 per year (BLS, 2012). Marketing professionals, including fashion professionals, earn an average salary of $55,640 per year (BLS, 2012).
